Supervisor Net version 7

Supervisor Net version 7 is officially here!

Monitor is delighted to announce the official release of Supervisor Net version 7. We have been working on this new release for some time and ensuring that the Supervisor Net suite of products is compatible with this version.

Supervisor Net version 7 sees a move to a full SQL based solution. The move to a full SQL based solution ensures that moving forward we have the power to do the following:

  • All data can be queried directly from one database. This makes customised reporting and exporting to other systems easier
  • We are able to add features to Supervisor much quicker
  • Data can be protected at one point in the site’s database environment
  • We are able to design and deliver solutions that are even more innovative
  • A SQL server based solution is much more effective than a hybrid solution or a solution using an older database system

Supervisor Net version 7 has some added features that do not currently exist in version 6. Below are the details of these new features:

Supervisor Net

  • We now support KIP wide format devices using PCL5 and Postscript drivers
  • A new action has been added to the print rules system enabling you to bill the job to a specified primary (user) account
  • A new action has been added to the print rules system enabling you to bill the job to a specified secondary (department or cost centre, etc) account
  • The function that allows the user to change the job ownership via the popup client now uses the ‘Persist user credentials’ feature
  • If the system detects a page count error, the corrections file will be automatically saved
  • Initial SNMP support has been added. This will attempt to automatically set the black and white printer flag in the queue if it detects that the device is black and white
  • There is a new button in the passwords area of administrator called ‘Permissions’. This opens up the permissions editor where the different access groups can be assigned various rights for using the print administrator
  • IDPort can now be used as a validation device for single function printers, etc to release all print jobs at once
  • A secondary account can now be associated with an add value transaction when using Administrator. This function is present in the normal add value mode in the user’s record, as well as a new ‘add quota balance’ button. This is also possible when using the manage accounts function

Monitor Web Print

  • Print jobs submitted by email are now displayed almost immediately. This is due to the addition of IDLE functionality to the IMAP email support. This means that there is no need for the product to poll the server. If a job appears on the mail server, we are notified about it immediately
  • The robustness of the web print manager has been improved. If there is a failure of a service or a node in a cluster when processing a user’s job, it should recover from that failure and finish processing the user’s job
